Well, you're not alone! Join peer leader Rapunzel and share your story with people who get it and who won't judge you. The military/veteran spouse experience is a unique and sometimes challenging one, but we are not alone, and together, we can create a supportive community!

V-SRG Taking Care of Ourselves

Who even has time for self-care these days? And what does self-care even mean? Is it taking a bubble bath? Going to the spa? Taking a vacation? If you've been struggling to define what self-care means for you, in a practical, achievable way, then this session is for you.

Join peer leader, Jill, for an opportunity to connect with other military/veteran spouses/partners and share your self-care journey - where you struggle, where you succeed, and discuss strategies for how to prioritize self-care, how to practice tiny self-care throughout the week, and set self-care goals.

Let's Talk About it: Combating Compassion Fatigue

Are you combating compassion fatigue? Not sure? Let's talk about it! Not everyone chooses to identify as a caregiver, and that's ok! That doesn't mean you're not providing care to someone in your life, and if you are, you may be experiencing compassion fatigue. Join together with like-minded spouses and loved ones providing some level of care to a service member or veteran in their life. VSN peer leader, Holly Doggett will lead a discussion on living with and combatting compassion fatigue while allowing space for participants to share their personal journies.

Combating Compassion Fatigue

If you are a loved one of a service member or veteran and are providing them with any level of care, whether that be emotional support, logistical support, or anything in between, guess what? You're at risk for developing compassion fatigue. And you don't have to identify as a caregiver to have compassion fatigue. So what is compassion fatigue?

Side Hustles and Cost-Saving Strategies

Learn the hottest side hustles and cost-saving strategies of 2024 to help support your military/veteran family.

Military and veteran families are resilient! As a spouse/partner, you may have faced frequent moves, job changes, gaps in employment, and had to reinvent yourself time and time again. The ability to overcome and adapt while supporting your family and your veteran or service member is paramount. While the financial responsibilities of being a military/veteran family can be stressful, please know that you are not alone!

The Use of Psychedelics for Treatment of PTSD

The use of psychedelic drugs and marijuana for PTSD treatment has become more mainstream, as many veterans are now seeking this as a viable treatment option. Unfortunately, there is a darker side, due to those who choose to self-medicate and consume these substances without the help of a trained medical professional or in accordance with empirically validated treatment protocols. In honor of PTSD awareness month, we are excited to welcome Dr. Rudd Distinguished University Professor of Psychology and President Emeritus at the University of Memphis.

Military & Veteran Family Scholarships & Educational Benefits

At the Veteran Spouse Network, we recognize the unique challenges faced by not only the active duty military spouse but also the post-service veteran spouse, who, let's face it is all too often left out of services and benefits, or lumped in the larger military spouse group, making it less likely that they are even aware of benefits available to them, much less taking advantage of them.
