About the Veterans 1st Initiative
Aliviane, Inc. has a long history of partnering with Veteran serving
organizations in El Paso. In 2010 the Department of Veterans Affairs
funded Aliviane’s Veterans 1st Initiative in El Paso County to assist
eligible Veterans and their families with locating permanent affordable
housing and comprehensive case management to provide participants
access to social services that assist in addressing issues and needs that
may have led to hardships of experiencing or almost becoming homeless.
About SSVF
Aliviane, Inc.’s Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) is funded
by the Department of Veteran Affairs. Along with assistance in locating
permanent housing and comprehensive case management, the program
also helps Veterans find employment, access to VA services such as
medical, disability, and the Compensated Work Therapy program.
Services also connect Veterans and their families to various public
benefits and community-based organizations that provide educational,
child care, food pantry, and general and legal assistance services.

Who We Serve
Very low-income Veterans and Veteran families who:

  • Household income does not exceed 50% AMI
  • Veteran or member of a family, in which the head of the household, or  spouse of the head of household, is a Veteran


Must meet one of the three criteria:

  • Residing in permanent housing
  • Homeless and scheduled to become residents of permanent housing within a specified time period
  • Exiting permanent housing and seeking other housing that is responsive to low-income Veteran family’s needs and preferences
