Project MEND Veterans Program

Project MEND (Medical Equipment Network for those with Disabilities) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization committed to improving the quality of life for individuals living with disabilities and illness through the refurbishment, reuse and distribution of medical equipment and other assistive technology.

We serve people from all walks of life. We serve children and aging adults; veterans, their spouses and children; and the homeless. We serve those who are economically challenged, unemployed, uninsured, insured, or experiencing gaps in their coverage. We serve people. What we do is simple. We take in donations of gentle used medical equipment, and repair, refurbish, sanitize, and distribute it to Texans in need.

While we serve Texans who need our help, we do have a specific veterans program that provides much needed medical equipment and other assistive technologies to Texas veterans and their surviving spouses and dependents. We assist any person discharged from the armed forces of the United States, regardless of discharge status, and do not require a service connected disability nor a disability rating issued by the VA.

To receive services under our Veterans Program, we must receive: a prescription (Rx) or Letter of Medical Necessity for the needed pieces of equipment; proof of Texas address; proof of veteran status; and social security number.

Contact our Administrative Office at 210-223-6363 (MEND) for any questions or to begin the process.
