Community Lifeline Center

Community Lifeline Center is now able to extend its services to the over 45,000 Collin County veterans thanks to a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance.

The funding enables Community Lifeline Center to assist veterans, their survivors, and dependents with housing, utilities, counseling, medical, dental, prescription, transportation, legal, food, clothing/shoes, job, and financial training.

Counseling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and job skills training are just two of the many ways that veterans of all ages may receive help.

Services will initially be focused on veterans and their families in McKinney and surrounding communities that encompass the primary Community Lifeline Center service area. “With the support of individual, corporate, and government donations and grants we help nearly 4,000 area families in crisis each year. Thanks to The Texas Veteran’s Commission we can now also focus on our courageous veterans who are managing the demands – and sometimes unexpected crises – of civilian life, ” said Christine Hockin-Boyd, executive director, Community Lifeline Center.  Robert Camp, President of the Community Lifeline Center Board of Directors, and President of the Bank of Texas added, “We are deeply thankful to the Texas Veterans Commission for enabling us to honor our Veterans’  service. Not only will these funds allow us to serve them, they bring the added benefit of creating additional jobs in McKinney as we add staff to support these expanded services.” Veterans – and North Collin County families who may be experiencing a crisis – are encouraged to contact  Community Lifeline Center online at www.communitylifeline.org  or by phone to learn more about their services to North Collin County and to find out how to help the Center reach out to those in crisis. About Community Lifeline Center Community Lifeline Center was born as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1989 when a group of area churches determined it was best to work together in supporting  people in need. The organization has grown over the years but the  original purpose remains unchanged: to be the premiere place for providing assistance, information and referral services for the residents of McKinney and North Collin County. Funding is mainly provided by individual and business donations, and by local churches. Additional support is at times provided by TXU Energy, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), City of McKinney Community Development Block Grant & Community Support, and local businesses. Community Lifeline Center is located at 503 North Kentucky Street, Suite A, McKinney, TX 75069. The main phone number is 972.542.0020 About The Texas Veterans Commission The Texas Veterans Commission was created in 1927 as the State Service Office to assist veterans of the Indian wars, Spanish-American War and World War I. The Commission’s purpose has been to act as the state appointed advocate of Texas veterans as they attempt to secure the benefits rightfully earned in exchange for their service in our nation’s armed forces. The Fund for Veterans’ Assistance is supported by the people of Texas who purchase the Veterans Cash lottery scratch-off tickets, donate when they register a vehicle, contribute through the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC), and give on-line or directly to TVC.
