Community Lifeline Center is now able to extend its services to the over 45,000 Collin County veterans thanks to a grant from the Texas Veterans Commission Fund for Veterans’ Assistance.
The funding enables Community Lifeline Center to assist veterans, their survivors, and dependents with housing, utilities, counseling, medical, dental, prescription, transportation, legal, food, clothing/shoes, job, and financial training.
Counseling for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and job skills training are just two of the many ways that veterans of all ages may receive help.
Services will initially be focused on veterans and their families in McKinney and surrounding communities that encompass the primary Community Lifeline Center service area. “With the support of individual, corporate, and government donations and grants we help nearly 4,000 area families in crisis each year. Thanks to The Texas Veteran’s Commission we can now also focus on our courageous veterans who are managing the demands – and sometimes unexpected crises – of civilian life, ” said Christine Hockin-Boyd, executive director, Community Lifeline Center. Robert Camp, President of the Community Lifeline Center Board of Directors, and President of the Bank of Texas added, “We are deeply thankful to the Texas Veterans Commission for enabling us to honor our Veterans’ service.
