YWCA Greater Austin - Women Vets Counseling

YWCA Greater Austin’s free counseling, therapeutic groups for Women Veterans and WoVeN peer support groups.

The therapeutic processing group provides a safe environment for women veterans to meet and share their experiences in the military and how and if those experiences affect them today.

WoVeN is a nationwide network of peer support groups specifically for women. WoVeN connects women Veterans of all eras and service branches and empowers them with information, education, and resources to improve their quality of life. By building strong connections among women Veterans, WoVeN groups are designed to enhance wellness, relationships, and career satisfaction.

YWCA provides no-cost professional military culture/trauma-informed, multicultural/multilingual therapeutic counseling services to veteran woman including individual, couple, and family counseling services provided by therapists (including veterans) trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Military Cultural Competency and Prolonged Exposure. Group therapy and peer support groups (WoVeN) are also provided on-site at no-cost. Women veteran dependents, surviving spouses, and partners receive sliding scale therapy services; typically, $10-$30/session. All FVA approved veteran eligibility documents are accepted.      YWCA is grateful for the opportunity to extend mental health services to the veteran community. Assisting veterans and their families through preventive mental health therapies focused on coping with emotional/physical trauma/shame/re-traumatization and enhancing their sense of safety and security, ultimately leads to improved future health and stable family and societal relationships.
