Veteran Task Force - Houston & Galveston - Gulf Coast Center

Connect Transit has a “vet van” and transit buses that travel through Galveston and Brazoria County to offer transportation to the VA Hospital in Houston as well as local transportation needs. Interested riders can call 1-800-266-2320 to make arrangements for transportation. There is a minimal fee for each trip.

The Gulf Coast Center is a member of the Military Veteran Peer Network (MVPN) www.milvetpeer.net

This network assists veterans and their family members connect to their peers and veteran service providers locally and state-wide.

Our program helps to recruit and train veteran volunteers so they can provide peer to peer support through veteran peer groups and individual mentoring. Community veteran reintegration services are offered by partnering with local veteran programs to make appropriate referrals. We also provide access to mental health professionals who have Military Cultural Competency through their military service experience or training.

 

The Gulf Coast Center is one of thirty-nine community centers in the state of Texas providing services, programs and employment assistance for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), mental illness,  HIV or needing substance abuse recovery services. Programs and services offered by the Gulf Coast Center have made progress toward enabling and empowering individuals and their families to live quality lives.
