Veteran Spouse Resiliency Groups (V-SRG) provide a safe space for veteran spouses and partners of veterans to come together, listen, share their stories, and lean on one another for support and guidance. These groups connect veteran spouses in Texas to their communities by providing strong peer support. This peer support is available to veteran spouses who face a diverse and unique set of experiences and challenges ranging from caring for their own mental, emotional, and physical health, to parenting, relationship and career health, discussing the lingering effects of service, and how to support their veterans in seeking help.
This program was created for veteran spouses, by veteran spouses, and aims to provide a space where spouses and partners can gather with others who have a shared experience and be provided support without judgement. If you have been looking for a strong community of spouses, this is it! Join us!
The program follow’s a unique peer-to-peer model:
- Trained veteran spouses and/or committed partners facilitate groups of 8-10 spouses
- Groups meet once a week for two hours over 12 weeks
- Curriculum topics range from “Taking Care of Ourselves” and “Sharing Our Stories,” to “Caregiving,” and “The Lingering Effects of Service”
Our next set of groups will kick off in Summer and Fall 2019. In-person groups will be offered in select cities across Texas, and we will also be offering online groups in Fall 2019. More specific site information will be shared soon!
In our online groups, spouses and partners will come together virtually on a secure and easy to use video chat platform to attend sessions. Groups will meet virtually once a week for 2 hours over the course of 12 weeks.
