Providing services for Limestone and Freestone counties.
“For Veterans By Veterans”
The Mexia Peer Support Center welcomes MHMR clients and Veterans of all eras of service.
The MPSC operates under a 501c3 as a non-profit organization. We rely on groups, organizations, and individuals of both counties to help us with the funds necessary to purchase all the items we need to operate the center effectively. We need Volunteers to answer the phone and greet visitors at the center. Volunteer hours are from 10:00 am to 2:00p pm Monday through Friday, except for holidays that the MHMR are closed. We need volunteers to commit to be there so the office can be open to serve our clients.
Key features: drop in center with comfortable couches and chairs; television; computer lab; shared intake information area, handicapped access ramp and restroom; billiard table; library; work tables to fill out paperwork; veteran benefit information and flyers; a comfortable, secure area to relax.
MPSC services include Peer to Peer mentors for veterans and their families (Tuesdays), homeless shelters for men and women, emergency food resources, spiritual counseling with five denominations, employers who will give veterans preferential hiring status, referrals to the Veteran Service Officers in both counties for claim support and more.
