Michael Russel, Ph.D.

Biography

Dr. Michael Russell is a clinical neuropsychologist who joined the Center of Excellence after a distinguished career with the Department of Defense. He is a retired military officer and combat veteran, with multiples tours to Iraq and the IFOR Bosnia mission. Holder of the Legion of Merit, Order of Military Medical Merit and Distinguished Member of the Army Medical Regiment awards, he is the only clinical psychologist to have ever commanded an Army Combat Support Hospital. Dr. Russell has been Chief of Psychology at some of the largest military hospitals and bases in the Country: Fort Bragg, Fort Hood, and Fort Bliss. His primary focus of research is on the possible long term effects of TBI on human cognitive ability and personality.
