Attitudes and Attire - Boots to Heels

Attitudes & Attire was founded in 1996, to address areas not traditionally covered in workplace training, including raising self-esteem and providing work attire.

Women who have served in the military are returning home to the U.S. in record numbers, and many are facing new battlefields as they transition back to civilian life. Often dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, female veterans can be plagued by fear, loneliness, distrust and anger.

Boots to Heels is a customized program designed exclusively for women in the military community. Our seminar gives them the camaraderie of being with peers who understand the experiences and challenges they face. The program’s goal is to assist female veterans and female spouses of veterans with their transition from military to civilian life.

The program includes workshops on three separate days. The first session is devoted to self-esteem, interview skills and resume development. Afterwards, each veteran is invited to select professional attire and accessories from the agency’s boutique. The second and third sessions are devoted to employment, including more time on resumes, and awareness of community resources. All Boots to Heels sessions are facilitated by individuals who have served in the military community.

The program is not geographically restricted, but it primarily serves women who live in Dallas, Collin and Tarrant Counties.
