V-SRG Mini-Series - Compassion Fatigue

Cost to Attend Event:
Free

Join us for an opportunity to connect with other military/veteran spouses/committed partners. This session is the 4th in a 6-week V-SRG mini-series. Each week will be open to new participants, so join all sessions, just one, or anything in between! These sessions will give participants a sneak peek into our Veteran Spouse Resiliency Group(V-SRG) Program, leading participants through a portion of the curriculum's Compassion Fatigue session.

The purpose of this session is to facilitate an opportunity for participants to learn more about compassion fatigue and how to combat it. So what is compassion fatigue? It is a condition experienced by many caregivers (and you don't have to identify as a caregiver to be one - you just have to care), characterized by emotional and physical exhaustion, often described as the negative cost of caring. The same phenomenon can also be known as secondary traumatic stress or caregiver burnout, and it can sneak up on the best of us.

In this session, participants will learn more about compassion fatigue signs and symptoms, share their own experiences with burnout, and discuss strategies to combat compassion fatigue.

Please note that in order to maintain an intimate, collaborative discussion environment, we are keeping the registration cap number small. To ensure that all those wishing to participate are able to attend, please only register if you plan to attend the session. We understand that unforeseen circumstances may arise, impacting your schedule, so if you register and find that you are unable to attend, you will be able to cancel your registration at any time - this will open up your slot for others to join.

It is also recommended that you have the ability to show your camera during the session if able and comfortable, to make the session feel more like the in-person sessions.

Note: To be eligible for this group you must be the spouse or committed partner of an active duty service member or post-service veteran. If you have been a past participant in the V-SRG program, you are still eligible to join this session.
