Blind Rehabilitation
- The Waco Blind Rehabilitation Center provides inpatient training to legally blind and otherwise severely visually impaired Veterans;
- The outpatient Low Vision Clinic provides evaluation and training at a less comprehensive level suitable for those with less severe vision loss;
- The Blind Rehabilitation Outpatient Specialist provides evaluation and training outside the Blind Rehabilitation Center and outpatient Low Vision Clinic;
- The range of service available to visually impaired and blind Veterans are managed by the Visual Impairment Services Team Coordinator
The majority of Veterans attending the Center are enrolled in the regular blind rehabilitation program. This program offers training inVision Rehabilitation, Orientation/Mobility, Living Skills andManual Skills. Programs are tailored to each Veteran's specific needs. We also offer Computer Access training. In this program we teach blinded Veterans the basics of using adaptive computers so that they can keep in touch with family and friends with e-mail, gain access to news and other information on the internet, and gain satisfaction from using an adaptive computer for everyday personal business and enjoyment.
