American Hospital Association

The American Hospital Association (AHA) Certification Center announced that four AHA Certification Examinations have been accepted into the Veterans Administration (VA) Licensing and Certification Benefit - a program designed to help veterans who are seeking employment, planning to change jobs or trying to advance their careers.

Fee Reimbursement for Veterans

The American Hospital Association Certification Center (AHA-CC) Examinations have been approved for reimbursement of fees through the Veterans Administration (VA) Licensing and Certification Benefit - a program designed to help veterans who are seeking employment, planning to change jobs or trying to advance their careers. The VA benefit covers the Certified Healthcare Constructor (CHC), Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional (CHESP), Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), Certified Materials & Resource Professional (CMRP), and Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) Examinations.

The AHA-CC Certification Examinations may be a natural fit with many of the positions that veterans held in active duty or hold after duty. For the VA to reimburse the cost of the examination eliminates a potential barrier to becoming certified in a chosen field and may open the doors of opportunity for further advancement.

Veterans who are eligible for the Montgomery G.I. Bill, Reserve Education Assistance Program (REAP), Veterans Education Assistance Program (VEAP) or Dependents Educational Assistance (DEA) programs can be reimbursed for the first attempt or a retake of an approved examination.

Applying for the benefit is a simple process. Within one year of completing the exam, veterans should send a copy of the test results to their assigned VA office along with a request for reimbursement, name and Social Security number, name of the test and date, the cost of the test and the following statement, "I authorize the release of my test information to VA." For the Name and Address of the Organization issuing the certification, list the following: American Hospital Association Certification Center, 155 North Wacker Drive, Suite 400, Chicago, IL, 60606. For more information about the benefit and eligibility requirements, visit the US Department of Veterans Affairs Website http://www.gibill.va.gov/benefits/index.html or by calling 1-888-442-4551.

Veterans applying for this benefit are required to submit the Application for Reimbursement of Licensing or Certification Fees (available on the Dpartment of Veterans Affairs website); along with the following:
