Alliance for Veterans and Families (AVF) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2010 to assist and encourage all veteran service providers to work together. This collaborative effort will ensure that there is No Wrong Door for veterans and their families.
The Alamo Region consisting of San Antonio and the contiguous counties, is also known as “Military City, USA”. San Antonio’s rich history and cultural diversity are top reasons many military families choose to continue to reside in the area after separation from the military.
Due the varying branches of the military and the varying status of Veterans residing in the Alamo Region, a shift to find a common ground where Veteran Serving Organizations can collaborate is a gap which has been difficult to fill. The AVF has become that bridge of access working to link agencies together. Through AVF a network coalition of community agencies have had the opportunity to find answers and resources “opening the door” for both Veterans and their staff members. San Antonio’s community organizations are rich in valuable resources to assist Veterans and their family members, that have, until now, remained a hidden treasure. AVF integrated network will improve the way that providers from all sectors (nonprofit, county, state, federal, informal councils, veteran groups) work together to serve veterans.
